Section 103(A)
Section 103(A) takes its title from a proposed 2023 amendment to Israel's Penal Law, Section 103(A), which would make filming or distributing footage of Israeli soldiers punishable by five years' imprisonment, or ten years when intended to harm state security.
The installation brings together two videos: footage recorded by the artist during a tour of the occupied West Bank with Breaking the Silence, an organization that collects testimonies and conducts tours about the occupation; and footage of the same encounter published online by the right-wing organization Im Tirtzu. The two recordings document the confrontation from opposing positions, examining photography as a site where evidence, surveillance, and political identity are actively produced and contested.
