Section 103A

Section 103(A) is a video installation that explores how activists and NGOs in the occupied Palestinian territories use photography and image dissemination. It also examines the efforts of the Israeli government and Jewish settler organizations to limit the circulation of images produced by these activists. The project is rooted in a law proposal submitted to the Israeli Knesset in February 2023, which seeks to ban filming Israeli soldiers and distributing such footage outside of Israel if it portrays the country negatively. Violators of this law could face prison sentences of 5 to 10 years.

The right-wing organization Im Tirtzu, which initiated the bill, uses photography to expose and shame leftist activists. The installation features two videos that depict a confrontation between a member of Im Tirtzu, Israeli soldiers, a body camera belonging to a member of the left-wing NGO Breaking the Silence, and the artist who participated in a tour of the West Bank with the NGO group.
